One Community Kirtan
The practice of kirtan is much more than just singing or chanting; it’s a form of meditation, devotion, and community. It is considered a way to connect with divinity within us and outside of us, promote inner peace, and foster a sense of unity with others. Kirtan or Kirtan(a) is a form of devotional chanting or singing, typically in Bhakti Yoga traditions. It involves the repetition of sacred sounds/mantras, the names of deities, or other spiritually significant words, often in a call-and-response. The lead sets the melody, vibration and rhythm and the sangha respond to what they have heard. The word "kirtan" comes from the Sanskrit root "kirt", which means "to tell" or "to recount," so kirtan essentially means "to tell of the divine" or "to sing the glories of divinity" For us this doesn't even scratch the surface in explanation, our kirtan is medicine for the whole human being, it is a space that you can unleash your sound which is healing to yourself, and to those around you and of course it's jolly good fun.

Our collective sounds have a magic way of removing blockages and inviting a free flow of being to be in the here and now - it truly is amazing to be part of. The word spiritual has been given serious bad press in the western world and within our culture. Underneath we all know that we are all spiritual within our essence and kirtan helps us reconnect with this, to remember, and to experience joy that overflows from within.
