Here is an embodied teaching—so you can really feel Tadasana.
As I like to say in our sessions we need grow our asana from the inside.
We stand, not as effort, but as arrival.
Feet gently kiss the earth with the quiet confidence of stone that has known the knowledge for centuries. The mountain does not strain upward, it grows layer by layer and invites the sky to greet it.
In Tadasana, we remember this.
Becoming the Shape
Our feet spread like roots in fertile soil, four corners of our recieving feet awake, receptive, listening, from the so below. Awaiting communion. Weight settling evenly, not collapsing, not gripping, a dance between gravity and grace.
Our legs rise like pillars of ancient rock, muscles active, yet unburdened, energy spiralling upward from the ground, the earth herself is talking to us.
Our pelvis floats neither tipped forward nor pulled back, a slight energetic tilt pubis to sternum. Our sacred bowl perfectly balanced. Our unique midpoint between heaven and earth.
Our spine lengthens flowing, a river of light, each vertebra stacked in gentle universal intelligence, our vertical prayer written in bone and breath. ~A conversation between the as above and the so below.
Our chest widens without arrogance, moving into the space all around us freely given, again an invitation, heart space gently opens, ribs soft and down. We are receptive, not exposed.
As the energy rises up the front. Our shoulders melt down the back, allowing old burdens to slip off us, like thawing snow in spring.
Arms hang like energetic branches, available, alive, ungrasping, gifting love to the all and the ever..
Our crown floats effortlessly, as though being caressed by sunlight, moving up and into it, and the chin rests in humility, mouth and tongue soft, standing honouring the dance of life as it unfolds within us and all around us.
Mountain Tadasana (ताड़ासन) Cakras Awakening
Like all yoga Tadasana is subtle, and powerful. It is a full-spectrum alignment of the central cakra column.
muladhara (root cakra) Grounded through the feet and legs. This is belonging. Safety. “I am here.” The mountain’s base—unshakeable.
svadhisthana (sacral cakra) Balanced pelvis, fluid hips. Creative life force flows without excess or suppression. Stability without rigidity.
manipura (solar plexus cakra) Gentle lift through the belly, inner fire tended. Confidence without force. Power that doesn’t need to prove itself.
anahata (heart cakra) Open chest, softened sternum, soft ribs. Courage to stand tall and tender together.
vishuddha (throat cakra) Long neck, relaxed jaw. Truth expressed through posture, before our made up words were even dreamt up.
ajna & sahasrara (third eye & crown) Steady gaze, lifted crown. Presence sharpened. Awareness expanded in all directions, The watcher and witnessed.
Meridians & Energetic Pathways (Nadis)
In the language of meridians, Tadasana is a vertical circulation column of life force:
kidney & bladder meridians: Activated through the soles, legs, and spine, supporting vitality, resilience, and inner will.
liver & spleen meridians: Engaged through grounding and alignment, encouraging balance, nourishment, and emotional steadiness.
governing vessel (Du Mai): Runs up the spine, awakened through length and clarity, supporting nervous system regulation and inner authority.
This pose encourages energy to rise without agitation and descend without collapse.

Asana ... taking the comfortable seat of ... That which is the mountain’s wisdom.
