our night time darkness

Updated: Nov 24

So we have noticed that it has been really dark at night over the last few weeks and we wondered why?

ree

So on Thursday evening in our mat yoga class we wondered if it was because the moon is showing itself in the day rather than in the evening, as we all mentioned seeing the moon's beautiful face in the daytime recently, so at the moment at night not only are we missing the sunshine, but the night (sun reflecting) shine of the moon as is around the other side of the earth (where we can't see).

So I did a little research and yes, we were correct.

We have just seen our most remote moon until 2043.  The most furthest distances occur around the full moon or the new moon, and on 20 November 2025 it was far far away, and wont be that far away for another 18 years.

And in little ole Nuneaton yes we are having daytime moon rises and sets, so it is super dark at night for us at the moment.

Moon rise           Moon set

15/11   02:09                    14:20

16/11   03:22                    14:29

17/11   04:34                    14:39

18/11   05:48                    14:51

19/11   07:02                    15:07

20/11  08:17                     15:29   New Moon

21/11   09:27                     16:00

22/11  10:29                      16:44

23/11  11:19                      17:43

24/11  11:55                      18:53

25/11  12:21                      20:10

26/11  12:39                      21:29

27/11  12:53                      22:50

And we have the cold moon (full moon) coming our way on 04 December so wrap up warm, as it is/was named after the weather of our cold Autumn season.

Interesting eh, so anyway back to this week’s invitation... Ask yourself the question 'what has piqued your interest recently', and go and do some research, so you can learn something that you had an intuition into and wanted to find out more.  By doing this will help us keep our brains flexible to complement our yoga asana practice to keep our bodies flexible too, definetly a win win in our book!
