Tick Tock The Body Clock

ree

As we say a fair bit in sessions with you all, we are better at repairing our bodies when we have our eyes closed as it allows our parasympathetic nervous system to become more dominant, but did you know when our body sends out the maintenance crew to do the deeper repairs? Yes, our bodies are on the clock too, and knowing the approximate times when your body is repairing parts can help you pinpoint when things are not in alignment. Obviously, these are guidelines and are actually worked out depending on the position of the sun and moon in relation to the earth on each day but there is a good rule of thumb using our made-up clock times! But we can use them as a reliable indicator of what is occurring.Approximate Body Repair Times Table:

Lungs: The lungs are the first organs of each new day break that are up for maintenance and repair. The waste from our lungs becomes loosened between 3 to 5 a.m, and when we awaken, this is why we cough sometimes. Our lungs are trying to expel the loosened waste. So, a good rule of thumb if we find ourself spontaneously coughing in the morning, take a look at where we have been the previous day, and what we have been doing and ask ourself does my lifestyle and diet need a little tweaking.

A good rule of thumb is before we go to bed a night drink a small glass of water so our body can use it for its repair work overnight and pop one on your bedside table and when you awaken drink it first before doing anything else.  This replenishes the water, you used to repair our physical body overnight and give us a great morning start. All organs, or should we really say all cells need water to cleanse, to wash, to flush away the debris that our physical body accumulates, so remember to drink water, though not little and often as some us may have been lead to believe, drink a full drink at a time to support the flushing capability of the body.

Our body needs water in the morning to do its repair and maintenance of the large intestine and colon. This keeps you from getting constipated, gaining weight, and looking and feeling older. When we water our system every morning (just like we water our plants) our health improves.

It’s also a good start to our day waiting until our bowels have moved before we eat in the morning, this is also healthier for our colon.

Our healthy colon is flushing waste matter 25/7/365.  It only goes on holiday when we fast (we will talk about this in a future post)

Try to avoid your caffeine fix until later in the morning. Caffeine is a diuretic and takes water away from your colon to your kidneys and bladder for evacuation. So, maybe its coffee time at lunch as this would be a perfect bodily timed caffeine fix.  We recommend take it black and add in some cinnamon and coconut oil in it so it can release it fabulous properties into our body.

The maintenance crew then moves onto the stomach around between 7 and 9 a.m, the stomach does not need a big meal to deal with. While the large intestine and colon needs fluid to repair properly in the morning, the stomach needs very very little assistance. First things just fluids (pure water or fresh juiced fruit and vegetables) as this is easily digested. So for better health and wellbeing only fluids before 10am is preferred at least.  It 9 to 11 a.m and time for the spleen to get its maintenance. It is worth remembering that when the crew is working on our organs, they are in a weakened state so you may feel a little like you have allergies at this time or a little cold like symptoms. This is because the spleen works in partnership with the liver and our immune system. A healthy spleen produces antibodies (our internal army) if and when it identifies an infection and constantly monitors the blood for invaders.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. its our hearts turn.   Our body is removing waste from our heart and maybe if you observe close enough you may sometimes notice a rapid heartbeat, double beats and/or skipping beats. So try to avoid strenuous exercise at this time.  Its actually a great time to rest and meditate.

.Have you ever noticed between 1 to 3 p.m in the afternoon a little indigestion, pain and perhaps some bloating?  This can give us a clue that our diet is not where it should be and our food is not digesting as well as we would like it to, Or our diet is causing us a few issues and placing the body under undue stress.  We always need to remember that food is medicine that can kill or cure, harm or heal. And with the abundance of food that we now have in the western world it is still worth mentioning that we should eat organically local and with the seasons produce as not only does our body work on a day clock but also on a seasonal clock and like everything in life it needs to be balanced.  So maybe looking at what we eat, how fresh it is and unprocessed, so we can thrive because of our food, as well as out movement and stillness practices we honour in our daily lives. Over to the Kidneys and Bladder between 3 to 7 p.m. we get a little tired around this time, our afternoon slump, and it a great time for a rest. To take things a little easier or maybe even a short siesta!

When the kidneys are healthy and working properly, we feel energetic, so its worth taking note of our energy levels each day and most of us are surrounded by and yes addicted to stress which takes a great toll on our body.  (read my we are addicted blog for some ways to identify our non-serving patterns around this)

7 to 9 p.m. is Pancreas time. Interesting that we can get  cravings for sweets or processed carbohydrates that turn to sugar immediately in our bodily organism? The kidneys regulate the pancreas, and if we do consume sweets during this period, we may notice some twinges and lower back pain, which is a kidney symptom. The kidneys, bladder and pancreas are all parts of the same whole circulatory system all working together like a friendship trio. If you need a nap early in the evening it is just your pancreas, as directed by your kidneys, literally putting you to sleep so it can do its repairs as it needs a big job undertaking.

Its blood vessels and arteries: from 9 to 11 p.m. the blood vessels go into repair mode. Worth noting when we get headaches, feel abnormally tired or weak, this means that the blood vessels are in heavy repair mode so taking more nutrients in our diet to help this the next time around is a good idea, try adding more greens into your diet, and maybe eat a tomato or two (preferably cooked rather than raw as our body absorbs more nutrients this way and does not need to waste energy cooking it up within.

Liver and Gallbladder: Between 11 p.m. to 3 a. m. is when these to see the maintenance crew. If you have trouble sleeping or waking up at this time it’s a sign that waste is not being processed well by your liver and it acts as an irritant an astringent to your body causing insomnia and also you can find yourself on edge during the day.  Our brain is on fast forward chatting and chatting and making up all manner of untruths it just won’t shut off.

The more we know about our body, the easier it is to maintain our health, so this weeks invitation is to use all of our senses and start pay attention to our body’s clock and repair schedule to see if we can figure out what’s going on inside us more, as we say a lot this is our unique experient, experience..  Where do we need to pay more attention to what our body is blatantly telling us.  We sometimes are in denial. We are so switched off we believe that its not telling us anything, because it is not speaking in our made-up mind words.  O ur bodu uses much more of an ancient system a much deeper intelligence of sensations, of feelings that we need to turn ourselves back on to for our ongoing health and wellbeing, as well as our self-actualisation and ability to act into this world why we are here and what we really have to do.

To paraphrase the Dali lama ‘the biggest gift you can give to the world is your our self-actualisation’ and that starts right here and right now in our inner landscape in which we create, and choose to live, and act out from this amazing creation in this magical unfolding world all around us.
